A lifetime devoted to the arcane ought, one imagines, to furnish a wizard with innumerable choices. This particular scholar hath examined countless tomes, mastered innumerable formulae, and arrived instead at one glorious conclusion: every problem is improved by the application of Fireball. Such magnificent certainty amused me at once. He is no madman in his own estimation, nor is he reckless. He simply possesseth complete faith in the correctness of his reasoning. Others clutter their minds with options; he hath distilled wizardry to its purest essence.

There remained, however, one artistic disagreement. Those overseeing the recording insisted that my voice should bear a subtle enchantment throughout the entire performance, lending the wizard an otherworldly quality from the opening phrase unto the final proclamation. I questioned the necessity of tampering with a voice that hath already graced courts and concert halls alike. They persisted. I relented, though not without spirited debate. In retrospect, I concede the decision served the character admirably. The slight veil of arcane artifice transformed the performance into something that sounded less like a bard portraying a wizard and more like a wizard who had wandered, quite by accident, into a recording studio. I still maintain my unaltered voice would have sufficed. Yet I am an artist before I am stubborn, and the finished illusion possesseth a certain undeniable charm.
